One of our newest deaf, Marcos, insisted that he bring all 3 books that his family owns to our program today: A Spanish Bible, and his picture Bible and sign language dictionary. In his 3 short months with us, he already knows that they all go together. All he really needs to know is right inside those pages: language and life!
“…so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the LOVE of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the FULLNESS of God.” Ephesians 3:17
Preaching, not something I ever felt particularly gifted in but it’s amazing how much God teaches and prepare me each Sunday. The responsibility of sharing God’s word is not something I take lightly and I pray that I truly get out of the way and let the Holy Spirit flow through my hands! Would appreciate your prayers each Sunday morning as we gather for Deaf church to be challenged in the Word and worship together!
We drive a little slower.
Because the van sits a little lower.
Because the deaf we found on the “egg hunt” back in July, are attending the program in this “little treasure” of a village. The size of the program has doubled and it is the first time many of them have met another deaf person or seen a language that they could learn and communicate it!
And these “eggs” are hatching as the layers of isolation and sense of worthlessness are removed and replaced with a sense of community with other deaf and of value in Jesus!
Some of the new students showing off their new sign language dictionaries!
We spend a lot of time in the car traveling to remote villages to visit, teach and love on the deaf. This sign (I Love You) brought a smile to my face and a reminder to share His love no mater were we are or what we are doing!
Join us in memorizing John 3:16 in Honduran Sign Language this month!
